The Elvina String Quartet

Violin: Joey Hanna

Violin: Beatrice Columbis

Viola: Dana Lee

Cello: Noah Oshiro

The Elvina String Quartet was founded at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music in November 2022 during the Musica Viva program for Piano Quintet Performance with Dan Rojas. They made their concert debut at Fairfax Room Series at St Andrew’s Cathedral School in February 2023 performing Two Australian premieres, Harold Shapero’s String Quartet and an arrangement of John Coltrane’s “Giant Steps'' by Oene Van Geel. Along with the standard Quartet repertoire, The Elvina String Quartet passionately embraces musical innovation and dedicates themselves to programing repertoire with an edge that fuses the Classical and Jazz world together.

They were awarded the George Henderson traveling scholarship in March 2023 and are looking ahead to Europe in July 2024 where they will travel to Germany and Italy for masterclasses and festivals, including a week long residency with the renowned Schumann String Quartet in Munich. In October 2023 as part of Musica Viva they had a masterclass in Sydney with the Vision String Quartet.
